"...It is appointed
unto men once to die, but after this the
judgment." (Heb. 9:27) "And I saw the dead, small and
great, stand before God; and the books were opened:
and another book was opened, which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things which were
written in the books, according to their works ... and
whosoever was not found written in the book of life
was cast into the lake of fire." (Rev. 20:12 & 15)
Is your name in the Lamb's
book of life? "...Whosoever hath sinned against
me, him will I blot out of my book." (Exodus 32:33)
What is sin? "...Sin
is the transgression of the law." (I John 3:4) "All
unrighteousness is sin..." (I John 5:17) "...Whatsoever
is not of faith is sin." (Rom. 14:23) "As it is written,
There is none righteous, no, not one...For all have
sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Rom 3:10
& 23)
You need to be cleansed from
sin! How? "...The blood of Jesus Christ his
son cleanseth us from all sin." (I John 1:7) "...Without
shedding of blood is no remission." (Heb. 9:22) "For
this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed
for many for the remission of sins." (Mat. 26:28)
Here's how to receive the salvation
promised by Jesus Christ:
First, "...Draw
nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." (James 4:8)
Second, Contact
Jesus: "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any
man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in
to him, and sup with him, and he with me." (Rev. 3:20)
Third, Confess
(acknowledge) and ask forgiveness of sins in your life
through prayer to God in Jesus' name: "If we confess
our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our
sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (I
John 1:9)
Fourth, Repent
(become a changed person and turn to God, forsaking
sin). "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners
to repentance." (Luke 5:32) "Repent ye therefore, and
be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when
the times of refreshing shall come from the presence
of the Lord." (Acts 3:19)
Fifth, Ask to
be saved: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and
ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."
(Mat. 7:7)
Sixth, Receive
Jesus: "But as many as received him, to them gave he
power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe
on his name." (John 1:12)
Seventh, Confess
(acknowledge) Jesus Christ as Lord (and Savior): "That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart (inner-most being or
spirit) that God hath raised him from the dead, thou
shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth
on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference
between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over
all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever
shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
(Rom. 10:9-13)
Once saved, then what?
You're Called, Before and
After Salvation Takes Place "... who hath
saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according
to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace
which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world
began." (II Tim. 1:9)
You Receive Everlasting Life
"... For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
You Have Abundant Life, Through
Jesus "...I am come that they might have
life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
(John 10:10)
At Salvation, You Receive
the Holy Spirit... (Speaking of Christ) "In
whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of
truth, the Gospel of your salvation: in whom also after
that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit
of promise." (Eph. 1:13)
Then or Later, You should
Receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit "...If
ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto
your children, how much more shall your Father which
is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?"
(Mat. 7:11) "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is
excess; but be filled with the Spirit." (Eph. 5:18)
"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began
to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them
utterance." (Acts 2:4)
The Bible asks us, after we are
saved, to:
Fellowship Regularly—"And
let us consider one another to provoke unto love and
to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves
together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one
another: and so much the more, as ye see the day (of
Jesus' return) approaching." (Heb. 10:24-25)
Pray—"Pray
without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this
is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
(I The. 5:17-18) "...I will pray with the spirit, and
I will pray with the understanding also." (I Cor. 14:15)
"... Praying always with all prayer and supplication
in the Spirit." (Eph. 6:18) "For if I pray in an unknown
tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful."
(I Cor. 14:14)
Worship—"But
the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers
shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for
the Father seeketh such to worship him." (John 4:23)
Be Baptized in Water—"He
that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he
that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:16)
Study—"Study
to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth
not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
(II Tim. 2:15)
Witness—"And
preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15)
Endure—"But
he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be
saved." (Mat. 24:13)
Also remember Jesus' two great commandments:
"...Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment. And the second
is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
(Mat. 22:37-40) Jesus also said, "...If any man will
come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his
cross, and follow me." (Mat. 16:24) He also stated:
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see
your your works, and glorify your Father which is in
heaven." (Mat. 5:16)
